Auction sites and stolen goods  

The Independent has reported that more than 1,200 pedal bicycles are being stolen every day across the UK, research has revealed. A study by the insurance company Direct Line suggested that about 440,000 bikes are being taken by thieves each year.

One blogging site member on Velorution.biz suggests that a well known auction site may be supporting the trade of stolen bicycles. Finetoothcog uses an open source method to empower the victim and attempts to stop the trade of stolen bicycles.

In the UK the Immobilise scheme enables people to register their property, including bicycles, in an attempt make the property traceable. Do you think this goes far enough?
