Parking Furniture
'Parking furniture’ is the term we use to describe a stand, rack, rail, ring or other structure designed to accommodate a parked bicycle. Bikes can be ‘fly parked’ (parked/locked to street furniture not designed for bike parking) or use parking furniture designed for the purpose. Designed solutions should offer greater security as they should be designed to offer support and multiple locking points for the bike's wheels and frame. There are numerous parking furniture designs available. Some of the most popular designs and their characteristics are shown in the Bikeoff parking furniture typology. When considering what type of cycle parking furniture might be appropriate, there are many factors that you should consider in relation to the local context of use and abuse. These considerations are given in the design guidelines for furniture and facilities.
