Lockbike

The LockBike design integrates locking functionality into the structural frame of the bicycle. If the locking frame is broken then the bike is rendered unrideable. When the frame is locked to parking furniture the wheels and seat are also secured in the same action. The design was featured on Norwegian national television, making it into the top 8 on invention and business-idea TV show "The Creator 2006" (Skaperen TV2). The solution is available for licensing to manufacturers. More information is available from lockbike@lockbike.com.

Strengths
• Incorporating the lock with the bike reduces the need for the cyclist to carry separate locks
• The fact the locked frame secures wheels and seat makes it a great on street solution as it protects the components most vulnerable to theft with the one action

Weaknesses
• Compatibility with bike parking furniture - the frame appears best suited to locking to vertical poles
• Stability when parked - the bike could easily fall to the floor causing an obstruction and damaging the bike
• Method of locking appears to promote flyparking/post parking. These informal parking locations may cause obstruction and could lead to damage to the bike
