Tachikawa (Tokyo JP)

A self-standing building-based bike parking facility linked with Tachikawa train station. Parking is provided for up to 1000 bikes. Access to the facility is open access. Parking furniture caters for freestanding cycles, so bicycles are required to have a kickstand leg.

This site has no appointed guardians. There are two members of
staff who sell daily tickets and subscriptions. Users can park for 24 hours. Fees are ¥100 daily, ¥1500 monthly (£7.50) or ¥1000 (£5) monthly for students. Three months' cost is ¥4000 (£20) or ¥2500 (£12.50) for students. 6 months' cost is ¥7500 (£35) or ¥4500 (£22.50) for students.

Strengths
• The subscription fees are among the cheapest found in Tokyo
• The wide available area has a lot of potential for further extension and future retrofitting

Weaknesses
• The site could accomodate more bicycles, some areas the walkways are too wide.
