FORMING TECHNOLOGIES
Extrusion is the process of manufacturing continuous profiles in both metals and plastics. It is relatively expensive and so only suitable for medium to high volume production. Very complex and intricate profiles can be produced in this way, and multiple compatible materials can be extruded simultaneously for decorative and functional applications. Tubing for bike frames and street furniture is typically manufactured in this way.
