Racks & Vertical Parking

Vertical storage can be a space efficient way to park bikes. For public access use it is not always appropriate since not everyone is able to lift their bike easily.

Typical Context of Use
Restricted or semi restricted access. Workplace, leisure and residential premises, car parks etc. Installation: fixing bolts into ground surface or wall or ceiling surface.

Typical Length of Stay
Medium (2-8 hours).

Number of Bikes per Unit:
1-8 bikes max.

Approximate Cost per Bike
Between £25-£400.

Locking Opportunities / Lock Compatibility
Adequate / Poor - one wheel and / or frame.
All types of locks.

Ease of Use / Time to Lock
Vertical parking solutions appear complicated to some users (lifting the bike) and offer very few locking opportunities according to the model.
To locate and lock the bike can require a few minutes.

Strengths
• Space saving solution for both indoor and outdoor environments
• Available in wall mounted and free standing versions
• Lifetime: 5-30 years, depending on finish and context of use

Weaknesses

• Vertical parking is not easy to access and provides a low level of security and locking opportunity
