The guys over at Transport for London (TfL) have released an informative website for cyclists in London. The website features safety advice, route finders for cyclists, guides to traveling on public transport with your bike and a calender for bicycle themed events. In addition there is a section where cyclists can share links.
Lorraine Gamman and Adam Thorpe presented to GLA, TfL and CCoE on Design Against Crime’s review of Anti Terrorist Bike Parking Strategy - it seems that counter terrorism agendas DO NOT prohibit bike parking although some architects quote “security considerations” when asked why no parking is provided. With careful consideration designers can provide for cyclists AND avoid increasing risks of terrorism.
Bikeoff won the award for ‘Best Cycling Initiative’ at Transport for London’s Sustainable Transport Awards 2007. 200 transport officers, senior managers and politicians from London Boroughs were told that we have “been recognised for leading the world in bringing new thinking and international best practice to London’s cycle parking - showing the importance of context in design, both to reduce crime/theft and to enhance the environment”.
